Minutes of the Friends of Westhaven P.T.A. Committee Meeting - Thursday 13th November 2007

Apologies:  H  Rich, H Thorne, W Barrett

Present:  E Gough, P Doe, K Bradford, T & S Woodward, F Baker, C Wistow, J Moss, B Richardson, S Jeffrey

Minutes of the Last Meeting:  Read, approved by J Moss, seconded by C Wistow.

Phil Doe welcomed new members and apologised for not attending the A.G.M.

Matters Arising:

Bernie Richardson said that they were still waiting for the water to be fitted into their classrooms.

A3 printer has arrived, Brian Davies is really pleased. 

Treasurer’s Report:

Bernie reported that the balance was still £7267.34. Phil thanked Bernie for the work that he has done as the treasurer.

Christmas Fayre:

Sheena will be coming in next week to do the raffle tickets; she has received a £25 voucher for Sidcot Hotel and a Bristol Rugby shirt. She will contact Rovers and City to see if they will send shirts. She has asked the owner of Sidcot Hotel to come along and present his prize. There is also £30 in vouchers from Tesco.

It was agreed that the first prize should be a hamper worth at least £30, the meat voucher from Pyke the butchers could also go into the hamper. Second prize to be the Sidcot Hotel voucher. Phil thanked Sheena for all her hard work.

Frances Baker handed out posters to committee to put up in local shops.

Carole Wistow explained that Wendy Vincent was in hospital and help was needed for Sarah Tuttiett on the hot dog stall.

A letter has gone out to parents asking for donations of bric a brac, tins, bottles, etc.

Sheena asked if Jordan’s mum was making any scarves this year but no one had heard anything from her.

Sheena would like 2 tables for the raffle and 1 for the silent auction.

Father Christmas will be arriving along with his helper, Phil Doe.

Entry to the fayre will be 20p.

Any other business:

Children in Need. Letters have gone out to tell the children about our Big Breakfast and we are also going to cover Pudsey in coins. Mrs Wistow asked for a donation from the PTA towards this fund raising event.  After discussion by the committee it was agreed that we would match whatever the children raised.

Bernie asked for the usual donation towards the KS2 & KS3/4 school parties at Christmas. This was agreed.

Frances reminded everyone to look at the website as minutes of the meetings and all school news is put on the site by Mr Davies.
