Minutes of the Friends of Westhaven P.T.A. Committee Meeting - Thursday 7th February 2008

Present:  K Bradford, T & S Woodward, F Baker, C. Wistow, B Richardson, S Jeffrey

Apologies: L Gough, H Thorne, H Rich, J Moss, W Vincent, W Barrett

Minutes of the Last Meeting:  Minutes agreed by S Jeffrey seconded by S Woodward.

Matters Arising: 

B Richardson said that the Christmas Fayre had taken approximately £1500.

K.S.4 were still awaiting their water coolers. B Richardson said that these should be fitted in the very near future.

£180 had been donated to the Children in Need fund at the Big Breakfast. It had been agreed that the PTA would match this amount.  T Woodward asked if this had been done. C Wistow said not at the moment. To be mentioned at the next meeting.

Due to Ofsted it had been agreed that the disco will be on the 28th February from 6 to 8.30. Food is provided. There was no charge to the students.

Treasurer’s Report:

Balance in the bank is still quite healthy.

Bernie Richardson asked for £30 for disco and £30 approximately for food. It was suggested and agreed that £100 should be set aside for this.

Summer Fayre:

Dates discussed were the 10th or 17th May. This was to be discussed with Jenny Moss. It was suggested that it would be better to have it in May for the bedding plants that should be on sale.

Time to be 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to cover the lunch time.

It was suggested fancy dress, characters from fiction, could be worn to go with the National Year of Reading.

S Jeffrey to speak to Secret World about bringing some animals. She will also arrange the police, fire etc. as soon as a date is confirmed.

There will be the usual stalls and games. A list to be produced nearer the time.

Any other business:

Carole asked for £30 for the Easter Egg Hunt, This was agreed and S Jeffrey to contact Star Radio to ask if they will donate Easter eggs again this year. The hunt to take place on the 20th March.

A letter was read out from W Vincent asking for £100. This is to purchase craft items and more games for her lunchtime club on Tuesday and Thursday. This was agreed.

C Wistow asked if the committee would help to maintain the Junior Librarian system. This is £200 per year. The committee agreed.

Next Meeting: 27th March at 5.30 p.m.
