Minutes of the Friends of Westhaven P.T.A. Committee Meeting held on Thursday 27th March 2008

Apologies:

S Jeffrey, F Baker, R Jeffrey, S & T Woodward, K Bradford, P Doe, B Richardson

Present: C Wistow, J Moss, H Thorne, H Rich, L Gough, W Vincent, W Barrett

Minutes of the Last Meeting: Approved by R Jeffrey, seconded by S Woodward

Matters Arising:

Phil Doe said he was very pleased with how much we had raised at the Christmas Fayre and thanked everyone for their hard work.

Phil was also pleased that the Ofsted inspection had been successful.

Bernie Richardson said that the children had enjoyed the disco.

The Easter egg hunt had been enjoyed by all the children. Unfortunately Carole Wistow was unable to be there but it had gone well. We received some eggs from Star Radio through the town hall and the committee had bought the rest.

W Vincent had purchased some games and craft items with a good discount and these were being used at the lunchtime club on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bernie Richardson reported that the PTA have £5365.45 in the bank, this was in a higher interest account along with the money for the Horticultural project.

Bernie had paid out for the games, craft items, eggs and disco.

It has been suggested by one of the children that another disco be held to celebrate Ofsted. This was to take place on the 2nd April and Bernie asked for money to pay for this. The committee agreed on £100 for food plus the money for the DJ.

Summer Fayre:

The date for this was Saturday 17th May from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Sheena to contact emergency services etc.

Sheena has been very busy collecting items for the silent auction. She had written to football, rugby and cricket clubs who had sent her various signed items.

She asked for the agreement of the committee to purchase a Bristol Rugby Shirt at £20 and the players would sign it. This was agreed.

Sheena also asked if there were any other games we could purchase. She had been looking at  Foam Can Alley but it was decided that the cost was too high. Perhaps we could make our own with empty tin cans.

Bernie said that at the moment there was not a lot of space for storing items in school so this needed to be looked at before we buy anything else.

Sheena would be in on the 28th April to organize the raffle books.

Carole Wistow to be asked to organize the stalls as usual.

It was agreed that 20p should be charged for the entry.

Richard Doe had agreed to help and Phil Doe would bring his battlefield figures again.

Secret World should be contacted to see if they can bring some animals.

Bernie would unfortunately not be able to attend this year’s summer fayre due to other commitments.

Any other business:

Sheena was busy knitting scarves for the Christmas Fayre.

Frances Baker would organize posters for the summer fayre to be handed out at the next meeting.

Bernie said he thought we were a very good committee for such a small school.

Next Meeting: 1st May at 5.30 p.m.

Meeting Closed at:  6.20 p.m.
