Minutes of the Friends of Westhaven P.T.A. Committee Meeting - Thursday 1st May 2008

Present: S Jeffrey, F Baker, K Bradford, C Wistow, L Gough, S & T Woodward, B Richardson, H rich, H Thorne, N Thorne

 

Apologies: J Moss

Minutes of the Last Meeting:

The minutes of the last meeting agreed by H Thorne, seconded by H Rich and after amendments signed by L Gough.

Matters Arising:

In the absence of Phil Doe Liz Gough took the meeting.

On the last minutes present should have read apologies and vice versa. This will be amended for next meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:

Library cheque to come from B Richardson.

Summer Fayre:

Letter read out by Liz Gough from a Cheer Leaders group. Sheena Jeffrey to phone them.

Sanders to donate plants. These to go on the PTA stall, there is a separate one being run by T Towler and W Vincent.

Mrs Bradford’s parents will be doing their own stall again.  Thanks were given to them.

Sheena has received a £100 cheque from Kerry Michael, £50 from Wilkinsons and £50 from Sidcot Hotel.  Some of the £100 cheque will be spent on prizes and the rest to go into school funds.

It was suggested that the top prize for the children should be an Alba Mini Stereo disc player. This is £39 from Sainsbury’s and Liz Gough will purchase it and get 10% discount.

Adult top prize to be £50 from Sidcot Hotel plus various other prizes.

£90 Raceway at Avonmouth and this along with signed T shirts, rugby and football shirts etc. to be in the Silent Auction.

Sheena has written to various local sports clubs to tell them of the auction and hope they will come.

It was suggested a starting price for shirts and bats of £10 and Bristol Rugby shirt £30.

Wilkinsons and Tesco vouchers can be kept until Christmas.

Police and fire are coming; Hovercraft and Secret World are unable to attend.

Thanks were given to Sheena for all her hard work.

Refreshments will be in the HE room.

Various games will be available for everyone to take part.

Second hand school uniform will be on sale.

Any other business:

Carole Wistow suggested we have an auction in the autumn with gifts from famous people on offer. It was agreed that this was a good idea.

Carole reported that there was to be a Scholastic Book Fair in school week commencing 5th May.

Christmas Fayre to be on the 3rd December.

Next Meeting:  10th July at 5.30 p.m.
