Minutes of the Friends of Westhaven P.T.A. Committee Meeting - Thursday 10th July 2008Present: B Richardson, C Wistow, J Moss, S Jeffrey, R Jeffrey, K Bradford, S Woodward, T Woodward Apologies: H & N Thorne Minutes of the Last Meeting: Read and agreed. Proposed by S Jeffrey, seconded by T Woodward Matters Arising: Sheena Jeffrey reported that there were 4 tee shirts left including Wolverhampton Wanderers, also tickets for Edgbaston Cricket. Perhaps the cricket tickets could be advertised on our web site? The tee shirts could be put in the Christmas draw. Treasurer’s Report: Mr Richardson reported that we made £1527.78 at the Summer Fayre. Another record amount. We have £33211 in the holding account; £6453 is for the PTA.The Christmas fayre is to be held on the 3rd December from 6 until 8 p.m. and the Christmas tree and decorations would be up for this date. Any other business As the maths evening had been so successful it was agreed that a Social Evening be arranged on the 23rd October from 6.30 p.m. The evening will consist of a 10 minute AGM followed by a chance for the parents to get together and chat over coffee and nibbles. It is hoped that parents of the new children will be able to come along to meet everyone. Children will be invited to come with their parents. Mrs Moss to do an invitation letter with a merit reward for bringing back the reply. Sheena asked if we wanted the Shooting Stars majorettes for the fayre next year. It was decided that we would not ask them. She also asked where the games where. Bernie said that they were probably upstairs. Do we want a Mega Darts game? This was agreed. Sheena to purchase it. Suggestion was made that we do a stall for the children to make arts and crafts. Everyone thought this was a good idea. Carole Wistow asked for £500 for the French Trip. This was agreed. Bernie Richardson explained that the room to be used by the Business and Enterprise College needed some furniture. Bernie asked for £1500 to spend on it. Carole Wistow suggested that this room could also be used for the children to have their Enterprise meetings. Bernie thought this was a good idea. The committee agreed to the £1500. Frances Baker explained that when working in one of the HE lessons she had noticed that a food mixer was needed. She suggested that the committee should buy one for £189.00. Committee agreed and Frances would organise the purchase of this item. Sheena Jeffrey suggested having a PTA car rally Treasure Hunt. It was agreed that it was a good idea. Jenny Moss explained that she was purchasing an Accelerated reader programme and may ask the committee for support. Bernie Richardson asked for money to buy the children ice creams when they go to Bristol Zoo. The shortfall would possibly be £150. This was agreed. Sheena congratulated Jenny on her nomination for Head Teacher of the Year Award. Next Meeting: 23rd October 2008 Meeting Closed at: 6.35 p.m.
