Welcome from Phil Doe, chairman

Phil said he was pleased to see everyone at the meeting and explained the PTA organized events that  benefited the school in many ways. Trips out, visit of year 9 pupils to France, Easter eggs and games for the children at Christmas to name just a few of the things the committee do. He thanked everyone on the committee and all who helped at the summer and Christmas fayre. Phil said that he felt that the school was one of the best in the country and mentioned his son Richard who had attended the school and was now a member of the Queen’s guards. Being at Westhaven had helped him to achieve this ambition.

Minutes of the last meeting:

These were read and as there were no matters arising the minutes were approved by C Wistow, seconded by B Richardson.

Treasurer’s report:

The balance sheet was distributed with two documents attached giving the breakdown on the Christmas and Summer Fayres.

B Richardson reported a healthy balance after two very successful fund raising events. The Christmas fayre raised £1246.13 and the Summer Fayre raised £1572.87. Bernie said that a great deal of effort had been put into raising these amounts.

An amount of £798.77 had been raised in the higher interest account although this would be lower next year as Mrs Moss will need to take out the Specialist Bid money.

Under expenditure there were 2 discos, the Valentine disco and an extra one to celebrate Ofsted. The Ofsted one was for all the children, including KS2. Various expenditure of £1979.31. Total of £39034.61 - £29900 to go out. Balance of £9134.61 in the PTA fund.

Bernie asked if there were any questions. There were none. Phil Doe gave his thanks to Bernie for all his work.
