Minutes of the Friends of Westhaven P.T.A. Committee Meeting held on 23rd April 2009 

Present: C Wistow, F Baker, T Woodward, S Woodward, W Barrett, S Andrew, T Gardiner S Jeffrey, J Moss, K Bradford, B Richardson, R Jeffrey,

Minutes of the Last Meeting: Agreed C Wistow, seconded S Jeffrey

Matters Arising:

Disco – Everyone had a good evening, KS2 enjoyed themselves. It was suggested that perhaps a small charge should be made for the evening. This was a possibility for the next one although it was felt that this might prohibit some children from coming.

Easter Egg Hunt – Carole Wistow reported that a donation of £20 had been received from Tesco. This money bought hot cross buns and some eggs.  Star Radio also donated a number of Easter eggs. Mrs Wistow had purchased the balance from Tesco. All the children enjoyed the afternoon.

Sheena Jeffrey had been unable to purchase the darts game for the fayre but would buy a Bean Bag Target game instead for £13. Committee agreed.

Chairman’s report:

Phil Doe was unable to make the meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:

Bernie Richardson reported £30000 money for bid now paid to school. Balance in the account £9393.

Bernie had received a letter from Wendy Vincent thanking the committee for the purchase of the TV/DVD player for the Chill Out Club.

Summer Fayre: Star Radio have been contacted and Frances Baker to contact Radio Bristol on the day. Leaflets to go out to parents and to the local neighbourhood.

RNLI – Carole Wistow, St. John’s Ambulance, police and fire – Sheena Jeffrey

Auction and raffle organised. Elaine Parker to do silent auction. Sheena and Liz Gough to do raffle. Raffle tickets sent out to staff and pupils. £50 voucher has been sent from Sidcot Arms also paint balling prize.

Liz Rankin has offered to do the catering and also a “Guess the button” competition with a bottle of whisky as a prize. Liz has offered to provide the whisky.

The setting up will be on the Friday night and school will be open by 9 a.m.  on Saturday.

Jenny Moss mentioned John Penrose should be asked to open the fayre.

Any other business:

Library – Carole asked for £400 to pay for Microsystem in library. This was agreed. She also mentioned the audio library which she would like to set up. It was agreed to give £600 towards the purchase of CD’s

KS2 – Letter has been received from KS2 asking for £200 towards a new TV/DVD player. This was agreed.

Gardening Club:- As a thank you to the children in gardening club Wendy Vincent would like to do Strawberry Wellies. This is strawberries grown in wellies. It was agreed to give £50.

Carrier bags were wanted for “We Grow” it was suggested that they could approach Waitrose or Kerry Michael for donations perhaps through advertising.
