Another successful visit to France

Each year Mrs Wistow, accompanied by Mrs Baker and Mr Merry, take year 9 on a trip to Boulogne-sur-Mer in France.  This is the 14th year that Mrs Wistow has organised the trip.  In the past we have gone as foot passengers on the ferry and then caught the train from Calais to Boulogne.  This year though we had the luxury of a coach and driver, which gave us the chance to visit places outside of Boulogne.  We were able to visit the cemeteries and memorials on the battlefields of the Somme and also the visitor centre at Azincourt*.  The battle here took place between the British and French in 1415.

* no - Azincourt is not a spelling mistake!  This is the actual name of the place where the Battle of Agincourt (as the English called it) took place.

We stayed in the youth hostel where, as usual, the accommodation was very comfortable and the food very good.  The children were all very well behaved and enjoyed their trip, as you will see from the photos and the pupils' comments.  The weather was dry and sunny throughout which only added to the experience.

Once again thanks go to Mrs Wistow for organizing and leading the trip,  to Mrs Baker and Mr Merry for giving up their time to make it possible, and also Andy our coach driver who drove us around and joined us on the other visits we made.
