Celebrating Burns' Night in Assembly
During assembly pupils had the chance to taste Haggis, Neeps and Tatties. They also learned who Robert Burns was and how he contributed to Scottish culture.
The whole school enjoyed a Caribbean day with a visit from a steel drum band. Student chose to wear non school uniform and wore bright Caribbean inspired clothing. Edwards and Ward laid on a traditional Caribbean feast.
Visit to London
Miss Chaplin, Miss Adams and Mrs Watterson took a group of students that were in Phase 1 last year to see their film "Westhaven Wonders" which reached the finals of the Kids for Kids UK Film Festival 2014.
The students enjoyed a full day out in London, travelling up by train and seeing lots of the London sights!
A big thank you to staff for giving up their Saturday.
Thank you to all who supported the "Travelling Trends" fashion show that was held at school on Monday 3rd November - it raised a massive £813.35. Many thanks to Marion Morgan for organising such a worthwhile, enjoyable and profitable event.
Year 11 Final Work Experience

Macmillan Cake Sale and Coffee Afternoon

Dance Festival at Weston Playhouse
Once again the Dance Group will be performing at the Dance Festival at Weston Playhouse on Monday 20th April.
Tickets are available from the Playhouse from Monday 23rd February until Friday 13th March, after this date they will go on sale to the general public. Weston Playhouse Box office is on 01934 645544
A pantomime of Dick Whittington was enjoyed by the whole school on Thursday. It was another outstanding performance from M&M Theatrical Productions.
The cast, made up of 4 actors playing 6 different parts, had heaps of energy and enthusiasm and encouraged audience interaction. The show was interspersed with songs from the charts where students were encouraged to clap along or even join in.
Students took part in a special Remembrance Day Assembly and held a two minute silence at 11am on Tuesday 11th November.
Please note that cycling club has now finished and will start again in term 5.
Westhaven students and staff gave a donation of food to Weston-super-Mare Food Bank for Harvest Festival. Mary, a volunteer from the food bank, came into school to tell us how the food bank is run. Second Hand Uniform
We are now selling second hand school uniform. This will be for sale from our new retail unit at the front of school, which will be open from Monday 28 March 2011, at the following times:
Monday 1 pm - 4 pm
Tuesday 1 pm - 4 pm
Wednesday 1 pm - 4 pm
Thursday 1 pm - 4 pm
Friday 1 pm - 4 pm
We would be very grateful for any uniform in good condition that your child has grown out of, please send into the school office.
