News:

Fond farewell to Mrs Moss

The last day of term was a special day to mark the occasion of Mrs Moss's retirement. A lunch with many invited guests was followed by an extra special assembly in which all of the pupils were able to say their goodbyes through song and dance.  After the children had left there was also a buffet for staff and many invited guests.  During the day many tributes were paid to Mrs Moss's hard work and dedication - it was easy to see from the emotion behind these that she will be greatly missed.

Mrs Moss has been Head of Westhaven for 10 years, and in this time has brought in many changes which have created greater opportunities for pupils as well as improving the learning environment of the school. We would all like to say a big thank you for all she has done, and wish her a long and happy retirement.  Also, Mrs Moss being who she is, we know we also need to wish her good luck in any new ventures!

Sports day

The fact that the 2010 sports day had to be held indoors due to the uncertain weather did not stop everyone from having a great time. Congratulations to Tyntesfield, this year's winners of the Sue Slade Shield. Many thanks to all the parents and carers who attended - it wouldn't be a sports day without you!

Art Exhibition a great success

Special guest David Amos (Education Improvement Adviser) officially opened our first Art Exhibition last week.  The exhibition was open during school hours for the week, so that visitors could drop in and see the pupils' fabulous work.

House visits

On Thursday 8th July all the pupils went to visit their respective National Trust houses; Barrington Court, Montacute House and Tyntesfield.  We are very grateful to the National Trust staff and volunteers who made sure the visits were interesting and enjoyable to all.

First work experience for Year 10's

In June Year 10 successfully completed their first two-week work experience at a variety of placements in the local area.

Take care in the sun!

In the summer sun please remember the SMART code:

Stay in the shade 11 - 3

Make sure you never burn

Always cover up with a shirt, hat and sunglasses

Remember that young people burn more easily

Then use at least Factor 15+ sunscreen

Morning traffic arrangements

Since the beginning of term 1 we have been piloting a new system for vehicles.

All pupils are to be dropped off outside the school gates where a member of staff will be to ensure their safe passage into school.
